Armand Tremblay Obituary

Armand J. Tremblay longtime Chelmsford resident, WWII vet; 87 CHELMSFORD Armand J. Tremblay, 87, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died on Tuesday evening, October 23, 2007, surrounded by family and friends. He was the beloved husband of the late Leola (Fernald) Tremblay, who died in 2006, to whom he had been married to for 67 years. He was born on Oct. 11, 1920, the son of the late Joseph and Clarada (Savard) Tremblay. He attended Chelmsford Public Schools. Mr. Tremblay was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and St. Margaret's Church. He served the United States in the Phillipine Islands during World War II, Prior to his retirement at age 85. he worked as a welder at the Quincy Shipyard and as a carpenter. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, bingo, reading from the Bible, and watching the Red Sox, a seemingly cheerful, hardworking family man with limitless energy and enthusiasm and could easily and quickly learn to use any tool he picked up. He also enjoyed helping charity organizations who focused on feeding the hungry children. Mr. Tremblay was the beloved father of 10, Omer Tremblay of Lowell, Leo Tremblay and his wife, Kyoko of NH, Norman Tremblay and his wife, Kathy of North Chelmsford, Armand Tremblay Jr. of Chelmsford, Charlene Helfant of Pepperell, Patricia Stratton, Janet Tremblay and Deborah Tremblay, all of Lowell, as well as the late Barbara Tremblay, who died in 1945, and Joseph Tremblay, who died in 2007. He also leaves 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. TREMBLAY Armand J. Tremblay, 87, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at St. Mary's Church, Chelmsford at 9 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Armand's name to any charity that feeds hungry children. Arrangements by Blake Funeral Home, Chelmsford. www.blakefuneralhome.com
