Antonios Katsikas Obituary

Antonios Katsikas Purple Heart recipient, World War II Vet; 88 Dracut Antonios "Uncle Tony" Katsikas, age 88, a longtime resident of Dracut, died Tuesday morning at Saints Medical Center in Lowell. He was the husband of the late Mary (Psoinos) Katsikas. Born in Chelmsford, July 21, 1919, the son of the late Christos and the late Angelika (Gajes) Katisikas, he attended Chelmsford schools and was a graduate of Chelmsford High School. A decorated veteran of World War II, he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army where he was awarded the Purple Heart as a result of injuries sustained from landing on the beaches in Okinawa, Japan. In addition, he participated in five beach landings and was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two bronze stars, the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon with four bronze battle stars, the World War II Victory Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. Before retiring, he was a Real Estate Developer and the Owner and Operator of Lake Shore Realty in Dracut. Mr. Katsikas was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Ancient York Lodge in Lowell and the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington. He is survived by two sons Chris A. Katsikas and his wife Lynne Vallante of Palm Beach, FL and George S. Katsikas and his wife Cynthia of Maui, HI; three granddaughters Mary Aphrodite Katsikas and her fiancée Michael C. Dubois of Nashua, Toni Adena Katsikas of Nashua and Sophia M. Katsikas of Maui, HI. KATSIKAS In Lowell, Oct. 30, 2007, at Saints Medical, Antonios "Uncle Tony" Katsikas, 88, longtime resident of Dracut, husband of the late Mary (Psoinos) Katsikas. Friends may call at the O'DONNELL FUNERAL HOME, 276 PAWTUCKET ST. at Fletcher from 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday. His funeral will take place from the funeral home on Friday morning at 10 o'clock followed by a Funeral Service at the HELLENIC ORTHODOX CHURCH OF THE HOLY TRINITY at 11 o'clock.
