Russell VanDorn Deats, Jr. of LaGrange, N.C.; 81 LaGrange, NC Russell VanDorn "Pops" Deats, Jr. 81, of LaGrange passed away on Monday, November 05, 2007. Survivors include daughters, Stephanie Jamieson and husband Perry of Crofton, MD and Sharon Ravan and fiancé Scott Henderson of Carlisle, MA; sons, Russell VanDorn Deats, III and wife Phyllis of Wilmington and Frederick Deats of Piqua, OH; step-daughter, Susan Cummings and husband Gary of Pembroke, MA; five grandchildren; sister, Helen Lewis and husband Robert of Batavia, IL, and his faithful canine companion, Megan. DEATS of LaGrange, NC, Russell Vandorn, Jr., age 81, died Nov. 5th 2007. The family will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon, November 7, 2007 at 3927 Sean Drive, LaGrange. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with Reverend Jonathan Wallace officiating. Visitation will follow the service and a private burial will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Lenoir VFD, P. O. Box 5042, Kinston, NC 28503. You have my deepest sympathy. Mr Deats drove for us @ Sale Auto Mall that's how I come to know him. He was a very sweet and loving man whom I truly enjoyed working with. He will truly be missed. My condolences go out to the family. God Bless You!
