Harold Chase Obituary

Harold O. 'Jake' Chase of Pepperell, was mechanic, Army vet; 72 PEPPERELL Harold Oliver "Jake " Chase, age 72, of Pepperell, died on November 9, 2007, at The Highlands in Fitchburg, MA, after an extended illness. Harold, better known as "Jake", was born in Nashua, NH, son of the late Harold and Florence (Longley) Chase. He lived in Bath, Maine for several years but resided most of his life in Pepperell, MA. He attended schools in Pepperell, before serving his country as a member of the Army from 1958-1960. Jake worked for the First National Grocery chain for 28 years, before completing his career as a mechanic for Shanklin Corporation in Ayer, MA. Although recognized for his steady, laudable contributions in the workplace, Jake found his greatest satisfaction in caring for his home, both the physical structure and his loved ones within. He enjoyed classic cars, employing his athletic abilities during yard games, and spending time with grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Norma (Young) Chase, his children, Laura Lyons and her husband, Dave of Groton, Karen Chase of Tyngsboro, Jeffrey Chase and his wife, Wendy of Gardner, and Steven Chase of Himmelkron, Germany. In addition, Jake is survived by his brother, Leonard Chase; a sister, Alice Cornellier; eight grandchildren, Heather, Jessica, Kathryn, Melissa, Kenneth, Thomas, Sean, Keri; and one great-grandchild, Patrick. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald E. Chase. CHASE of Pepperell on November 9, 2007, Harold O. "Jake" Chase, age 72, husband of Norma (Young) Chase. Calling hours at the MARCHAND FUNERAL HOME, 16 Pleasant St., Pepperell on Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Church, 28 Tarbell St., Pepperell. Burial at Pepperell Cemetery, in Pepperell. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Alzheimers Unit at the Highlands in Fitchburg, 335 Nichols Rd., 01420. Funeral Director, Normand E. Marchand.
