Ethel Hill Obituary

Ethel E. Hill Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother; 78 LOWELL Ethel Eleanor (Firth) Hill, the beloved wife of James J. Hill, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 14, 2007, at a local nursing home. She was 78 years old. Born in Lowell, on Feb. 18, 1929, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Johnson) Firth. She attended Lowell schools. Ethel was a Rainbow Girl of Lowell #42. She was married to James J. Hill and together they celebrated 58 years of marriage. Mrs. Hill was a very dedicated stay-at-home Mom, raising two children. She was also a loving grandmother to her three granddaughters. For many years, Mrs. Hill worked as the secretary along with her husband in their family owned business, O'Connor & Hill Hardware Co. of Lowell. Mrs. Hill was a member of the former Fellowship Methodist Church on Moore Street. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, and sailing windjammers on the Maine Coast. Surviving Mrs. Hill besides her husband are a daughter, Linda Elliott and her husband, Frank of Dracut; a son, James Hill and his wife, Debra of Dracut; three granddaughters, Carolyn Elliott, Catherine Elliott and Allison Hill, all of Dracut; two brothers-in-law, Peter Scomis of Lowell, and William Hill of E. Dennis, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hill was also the sister of the late David Firth, and Mildred E. Scomis. HILL Ethel Eleanor (Firth) 78, beloved wife of James J. Hill of Lowell, died November 14, 2007. Family and friends may call at the FAY McCABE FUNERAL HOME, 105 MOORE STREET, LOWELL from 4 until 8 P.M. on FRIDAY. Funeral Services will be held on SATURDAY morning at 10 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial in the Lowell Cemetery. FUNERAL DIRECTORS EDWARD I. McCABE & SON, 978-459-9222.
