Arthur Lynch Obituary

Arthur V. 'Willie' Lynch, Jr. retired Wilmington Police Officer; 72 WILMINGTON Retired Wilmington Police Officer Arthur V. "Willie" Lynch, Jr., age 72, a lifelong resident of Wilmington, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007, in Winchester, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness. Arthur was born June 10, 1935, in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late Arthur V. Lynch, Sr., and Frances (Kerrins) Lynch. Arthur was educated in the Wilmington School System, and was a member of the Class of 1953, which was the first class to graduate from the "new" Wilmington High School, he received his diploma from his father Arthur V. Lynch, Sr., who was the head of the Wilmington School Committee at the time. Following High School, Arthur worked in the Insurance Industry in Boston for several years. He became a Auxiliary Police Officer for the Town of Wilmington in the early 1960's and a permanent Patrolman on March 25, 1966. Arthur belonged to several shooting teams, where he received many trophy's and commendations for his marksmanship. He retired from the Wilmington Police Department on January 12th, 1995. In his spare time, Arthur, better known to his friends as "Willie", loved to bowl, travel, swim the lake, whether it be Silver Lake in Wilmington or Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, he enjoyed his lake house with family and friends, he liked to take long rides, enjoyed nature, birdwatch, he loved animals, and he was a great joke teller. But Willie will be most remember for his devotion to his family, Wilmington Police Department, and his sense of humor. Arthur was the devoted father of Kim M. Carroll & her husband, Bill, Kathleen J. Pierce & her husband, John, Denise M. Robarge & her husband, Joe, all of Wilmington, and Jennifer Lynch-Maher & her husband, John of Braintree; loving grandfather of Deirdre & Leigha Carroll, Brendan & Shauna Pierce, and Seamus Bradford; dear brother of the late Marilyn "Liz" Pilcher. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues. LYNCH Arthur V. "Willie", Jr., Retired Wilmington Police Officer, age 72, of Wilmington, November 28, 2007. Funeral from the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington on Monday, December 3rd at 9:00 a.m. followed by an Funeral Mass at St. Dorothy's Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours on Sunday, December 2nd from 4:00 9:00 p.m. Memorial donation's in Willie's name may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.

To the Lynch girls Willie will be missed by the town of wilmington and by everyone who got to know him.I had the pleasure of calling him my father in law. To many good times to remember at the cabin at the lake.will miss the big guy but will think of him often
