Marguerite Piecewicz Obituary

Marguerite M. Piecewicz formerly of Lowell, Boott Mills worker; 85 STOW Mrs. Marguerite M. (Gorman) Piecewicz, age 85, of Maynard and Stow, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2007, at Emerson Hospital. She was the wife of the late Peter A. Piecewicz. Born in Lowell, on Dec. 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Gallagher) Gorman. Raised and educated in Lowell, Mrs. Piecewicz graduated from Lowell High School, and later married and settled in Maynard in 1949. She worked for the Lowell Boott Mills for nine years in various positions including that of bookkeeper, and she was a devoted, caring mother to her daughters. Mrs. Piecewicz was an avid listener of swing and big band music, and she had fond memories of the Lowell Commodore, where she enjoyed dancing to artists such as Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra and many others from that era. In her later years, she enjoyed antique markets and collecting nostalgic items especially dolls. She is best remembered for her quiet, unassuming acts of charity and for helping those who needed it most. She is survived by her daughters, Jane Kolenda of Maynard, and Marcia Mishley of Stow, and two granddaughters, Alaina and April Mishley. She was also the sister of Leo Gorman of GA, James Gorman of Lowell, and the late Russell and John Gorman. PIECEWICZ Visiting hours, Thursday, Dec. 6, from 5:00 8:00 p.m. in the Fowler-Kennedy Funeral Home, 42 Concord St., Maynard. Funeral Mass, Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Isidore's Church, Great Rd, Stow. Interment St. Bridget's Cemetery, Maynard. Gifts in her name may be made to the charity of one's choice or to the Foundation for Chinese Orphanages, 515 Center St., No. 2, Newton, MA 02458.
