I had the good fortune of being a friend of Reginald during him studies at Bennington. I am very saddened at finding he has passed away. The world is less without him.

I'm so sorry to hear Reginald Shepherd is no longer with us. As has been noted, his generosity and warmth to others even while he himself was engaged in a life struggle was never failing.
I personally benefitted from his encouragement during a health crisis of my own, and find it impossible to believe just now that he will not be sending me emails, or posting his brilliant insightful and passionate essays on his blog, or creating more literature as only he could.

I have only just learned of Reginald as poet and incisive critic this year, but I already feel that I will miss his voice and insight. My thought go out to you who were close to him and will miss him that much more.

I adored Reginald. His wit, his haughtiness, his talent, his unplaceable accent...all unique qualities that the world will suffer the loss of. Rest in peace, friend.

I'll always remember Reginald's smile as he lectured about mythology in the Stone House. He could take any subject and turn it into an incredible intellectual experience -- all while having a whole lot of fun.

Professor Shepherd was a great teacher. Without his guidance, I would not have learned of my love of poetry. He was a great artist and kind man. I will miss him.
