PORTLAND -- Eunice M. (Luttrell) Carroll, 87, of Portland, formerly of South Portland, died Feb. 25, 2009, at the Barron Center.
She was born in Portland, Oct. 17, 1921, the daughter of the late Peter and Priscilla Pineau Luttrell. She attended Cathedral Grammar School and graduated from Cathedral High School, Class of 1939.
Eunice was employed in the office of Day's Inc. for two years, and then worked for Fox & Ginn, Inc. as a secretary for four years, leaving when the war was over and her husband returned home. When her husband was transferred from Portland to Boston, Mass., in 1950, the family lived in Cambridge, Mass., moving to Melrose, Mass., in 1954. Upon her husband's retirement, they subsequently moved to Maine and settled in South Portland in 1982.
Eunice was a communicant of Holy Cross Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Patrick E. Carroll in December, 2005. Surviving are four children, Nancy J. Watkins of Malden, Mass., Carlene P. Moore and her husband James of Bridgewater, Mass., Katherine M. Carroll-Day and her husband Douglas of Wayland, Mass., a son, Gregory P. Carroll of Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren, Kelley J. Baran of, Raynham, Mass., Katherine P. Moore of Brighton, Mass., Patrick and Courtney Day of Wayland, Mass.; a great-granddaughter Emma Baran of Raynham, Mass.; a sister, Eileen Luttrell of Portland; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. Prayers will be recited 9:15 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at the chapel, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Church, corner of Broadway and Cottage Road, South Portland.
