Carmella Pappalardo Obituary

Carmella E. Pappalardo, 85 METHUEN, Mass. -- Mrs. Carmella E. (DeFusco) Pappalardo, 85, beloved wife of 64 years to the late Anthony J. Pappalardo, died peacefully, Tuesday evening, Feb. 24, 2009, in the Nevins Health Care Center in Methuen, Mass. Born and raised in Lawrence, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Marguerite (Volonino) DeFusco. She received her education in the Lawrence school system. Mrs. Pappalardo was the proprietor of Cammy's Beauty Salon on Essex Street in Lawrence during the 1960s. While residing in Maine until 1999, she worked at the Maine Institute of the Blind in Portland, assisting physically challenged people. The family wished to extend a special thanks and appreciation to Nevins Health Care Center and Beacon Hospice for their special care to Carmella during her illness. Surviving her are two sons, Thomas Pappalardo and his wife Georgette, with whom she resided, of Methuen, Mass., and Vincent Pappalardo and his wife Susan of Jacksonville, Fla., one daughter, Eleanor Blackford and her husband James of Hampstead, N.H.; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sister, Ella Champy, her brother, Thomas DeFusco both of Lawrence, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Monday morning, March 2, 2009, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, Mass. Her funeral service will follow the calling hours on Monday morning at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel.
