James Rankin Obituary

James K. 'Chip' Rankin, 86 SPRINGVALE -- James K. 'Chip' Rankin, 86, of Springvale, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford. He was born in Shapleigh on Feb. 28, 1922, the son of James and Katherine (Grant) Rankin. He attended local schools graduating from Lindsey High School in Shapleigh. He then served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII and on June 13, 1947, he married the former Rosalie Emmett in Alfred. For many years he was employed at the former Sanford Goodall Mills and retired from Tenneford Weaving. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is predeceased by his parents: a daughter, Gail Rankin; two brothers, George Rankin and Lewis Rankin, and two sisters, Mary Moody and Helen Shedd. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rosalie Rankin of Springvale; a brother, Robert Rankin of Shapleigh; as well as several nieces and nephews. At his request services will be private in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Springvale. Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale.
