Dorothy A. Holbrook, 88 PORTLAND -- Dorothy A. Holbrook, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at the Calais Regional Hospital. Dorothy was born on June 30, 1920, in Baileyville, the daughter of the late Harry and Hope (Fleming) Gaddis. Dorothy had many enjoyments in life, she was a wonderful seamstress, she enjoyed shopping, she enjoyed many of her traveling expeditions to Tennessee, Florida, and a cruise to the Caribbean she loved to sun herself going to the beach and boating on the lakes, but her favorite enjoyment of all are the many family gatherings she attended. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her first husband and father of her four children, John W. Hiland; her second husband, Frank C. Holt; a son, Thomas Hiland; and four siblings, Margery Wahl, Philip Gaddis, Pauline Craig and Harry Gaddis Jr. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Thomas Holbrook; three daughters, Barbara Hansen and her husband Ernie of Meddybemps, Beverly Deschambeault and her husband Normand of Portland and Florida, and Brenda Smith and her husband Jerry of Castle Hill; many grandchildren; great- grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews all whom she loved dearly. No words can express the sadness I feel for you all at this time.
Aunt Dottie was a wonderful person with so much love & compassion for all.
We know that Heaven's Gates must of opened wide so she could be reunited with Uncle John, Ganks & Nannie, Tommy, and her four siblings.
My thoughts & prayers are with each & everyone of you at this time.
Love, Sue

Mom...My best friend...
I was always proud to introduce you to everyone...I'd say, THIS IS MY MOTHER....
I miss you Mama. You always made me feel loved. Yes, YOU were always my best friend...I could always count on "YOU" to be honest with me, and tell me the truth about anything and everything...
It seems like you should be setting in your chair when I come down over the stairs in the morning.Telling me that Ernie cooked you a big breakfast...and that you wouldn't want lunch...and I'd say your having a fruit cup.
I have so many great memories of YOU, especially the ones on the boat...Even though you cringed when I hauled out my camera...but, I always managed to get a few good pictures inspite of your reluctance...
You were loved by so many, and we have so many loving memories of you that will last forever...

Your loving daughter....Barbara

Dear Nana Dot,
walks on the beach, shopping, eatting out, dancing, stories of the past, your open door, driving lessons in the big city, making me laugh, making me smile, feeling loved, and so much more. I will miss you so very much but I have these wonderful memories of you. We will all miss you.
