Marlene Hansen Obituary

Marlene Haley Hansen, 76 PARSONSFIELD -- Marlene Haley Hansen, 76, formerly of Rt. 160 in East Parsonsfield, died on Feb. 28, 2009, at the Gorham House after a long illness. She was born in Limington on June 6, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Marguerite Wedgewood Haley, and attended local schools. Marlene married Clyde C. Hansen on Nov. 5, 1949. They were married for 54 years when Clyde died in 2004. She was always a hard worker her entire life. She worked for several years at the Cornish Dress Shop, and after that for many years at the Westbrook Spinning Mill. She also worked for many years at Accessories Unlimited 'The Bag Lady' in Cornish until her retirement in 2000.She was active with both the Parsonsfield Extension and Friends of Par-Sem. Marlene enjoyed many hobbies, but truly enjoyed crafts such as knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She was also a NASCAR fan, Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her loving family. Besides her parents and her beloved husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Frank L. Haley, and a sister, Barbara Waters. Surviving are two daughters, Jackie DeWitt and her husband Paul of Porter, and Judith Hansen and her companion Jeff Rutter of Scarborough, two sons, Timothy Hansen and his wife Anna of Cornish, and Thomas Hansen and his wife Jean of Waterboro; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Her family would like to especially thank the staff at Gorham House, her other family, for the loving care she received for the past few years. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, March 3, from 6-8 p.m. at the Watson Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. A funeral service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Limerick in the spring. To Jackie and Marlene's Family,
I am so saddened to hear of your loss! I just loved Marlene's spirit...she had plenty of that! I had the pleasure of visiting with her just a few weeks ago. I will always hold a special place in my heart for her! I hope hope the knowledge of the joy she brought to others will bring you peace. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
