Mary Thompson Obituary

Mary Rose Thompson, 92 PORTLAND -- Mary Rose Thompson, 92, of Portland died on Wednesday, Feb.25, 2009 at Maine Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 10, 1916 in Portland, a daughter of Egidio and Assunta (Fiato) Giobbi. Mary attended the former Staples Elementary School. She worked in the deli department at the Westbrook Hannaford, retiring in 1978. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Church and also attended the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She married John Elige Thompson, Sr. in 1957. Mary loved to bake, crochet, play beano and travel throughout the United States by car and tour bus. She was predeceased by her parents; a son Richard Budzko; a sister Lucy Rossetti and three brothers, Carlo, Dominic and Fernando Giobbi. Survivors include her husband John Thompson, Sr.; a daughter, Julia Roberts of Pownal, three sons, Matthew Budzko and his wife Paulette of Barefoot Bay, Fla., Dominic Budzko and his wife Ellie of Palermo and John Thompson, Jr. and his wife Arlene of Westbrook; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Prayers will be recited at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009 at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress St. Portland.
