Donna Elaine (Higgins) Rollins DUNNELLON, Fla. -- Donna Elaine (Higgins) Rollins passed away after losing her two year battle with cancer, Saturday evening, Feb. 28, 2009, with her husband of 43 years at her side. Donna was born to George and Marjorie Higgins in Kezar Falls, June 16, 1949. Donna attended and graduated from Gray/New Gloucester schools. After raising her children, she went back to school and received her bachelor's degree in Art Education in 1985 at USM, and worked for the Town of Lewiston as an Art educator until 2000. During that time she also reentered school and got her master's degree in Computer Art at Lesley College. In 2000 she worked for the town of Bridgton with the Special Education Department until she moved to Dunnellon, Fla. Down there she taught Art in Marion county schools until 2008. Donna had many talents and influenced many of her students, friends and family members with her abilities. She loved all arts and crafts; she belonged to a Quilting Club, loved photography, basket making, made clothes, fabric design with Photoshop, dying materials. Donna was a true Christian in her heart and soul. She was a member of the Revival Fire Church of Dunnellon. She belonged to many Bible groups. She also assisted her church friends by going to the homes of the elderly to bring them food and prayer. She loved Gods written word and developed a relationship with the Holy Spirit. She also attended Prayer College and went to as many seminars as possible. Donna was predeceased by her sister Betty Jane, a brother (infant) Higgins; her father George Higgins; and her daughter Belinda Jo Rollins. She is survived by her husband Andrew Rollins Sr. of Dunnellon Fla.; her son Andrew Rollins Jr. of Windham, her daughter Christine Rollins of Cornish; her mother Marjorie Higgins; and her siblings, Patricia Cooms of Oklahoma, Beverly of Maine, William (Buddy) Higgins of New Gloucester, Anita McBride of Oklahoma, Richard Higgins of Philippines, and Paula Bernier of Gray. Donna also had seven granddaughters, Chantal Paradis of Austin, Texas, the twins Cassandra and Suzanna Pinette of Biddeford, Ariana, Elizabeth and Marinna Rollins of Windham and Courtney Bertin of Cornish. Services will be held in Dunnellon, Fla., and a memorial service in June in Gray. Donna Elaine (Higgins) Rollins

Dear Andy and Family,
I was not aware of Donna's passing until this evening. Over the years in the school dept in Lewiston, we shared many interesting moments. I will remember them always. The days we spent in the Lesley classes were the most interesting in our relationship and a time of our mutual personal growth. I know she was secure in her faith and that she is at peace now. May the Lord Bless you that remain behind. Someone once told me that a person lives forever as long as their memory does not fade from existence so I know that Donna will live forever as she touched so many both at home and in the school systems. Again I express my condolences.

Dear Andy and Donna's Family and Friends,
Though I had not heard of Donna's passing until tonight, she has been in my thoughts. My heart is filled with sorrow. I will never forget the project we did together when working on our master's degree. Nor will I forget her teaching us about using the computer to design quilt squares and T-shirts. Most importantly, however, I will never forget her joy when she found peace in Christ. She is now with those who have gone before, and we are better for having known her. Thank you, dear family, for sharing her. Love, Bev Bisbee

I wish I had gotten to know Aunt Donna better, as for the short time I did know her, she was awesome. Never once did she tell me a single negative thing about her illness, and that inspired me with my own illness. She was very positive and loving, and I feel honoured to have known her, even for the short time that I did. I will always remember her.

I have known and loved Donna as a special friend since kindergarden. My
school years are filled with so many wonderful memories she and I made together! She was and always will be special to me. God gave her a lot to handle and she did it with grace and pride...she did not complain but kept her faith until entering heaven. She loved her husband and family so much and was so proud of all of you. I will miss you dear friend..I will see you again some day! Love Judi Heath
