Frances J. Nason
AUBURN -- Frances J. Nason, beloved wife of Harry E. Nason Jr., died peacefully Monday, March 2, 2009, at her home at Schooner Estates.
She was born in Auburn, July 26, 1917, the daughter of John J. and Mary Voytko Jacubouis. She was a graduate of Edward Little High School in 1934, of Bates College in 1938 and of Auburn School of Commerce in 1939.
On Aug. 24, 1948, she married the love of her life, Harry E. Nason Jr. who passed away in 2006 after 58 years of marriage. She was employed by Central Maine Power Company for 30 years and was a member of the Central Maine Power Company Old timer's Club. She taught in the Lewiston School system for four years and in 1973 she joined her husband at Harry E. Nason, Inc.
She was a member of the Auburn Catholic Community at St. Philip's Church where she served on the Parish Council. She was a member of the Woman's Literary Union, the Auburn-Lewiston Art and Literature club, a corporator of the Auburn Public Library, and a corporator of Central Maine Healthcare Corporation.
Many times she said she had a happy life enjoying traveling in their motor home, reading, knitting, playing bridge, crafts, cooking, a close family, and good friends. She loved collecting quotes and poems and frequently shared them with her family. She often expressed her fondness for the 23rd Psalm.
Her family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the wonderful team that has cared for her these past months.
Survivors include a sister, Phyllis Jacubouis Lothrop and her husband Allan of Fryeburg, and their daughters, Cynthia L. Engvall and husband Bert and their sons Nathaniel and Sam of Upton, Mass., Susan Hart and husband Stephen and their children, Melissa and Matthew of Billerica, Mass.; sister-in-law Caroline Nason Bither of Wilmington, Del.; nephews Tom Bither of Monroe, La., Chris Bither of Walled Lake, Mich., and Dan Bither of Wilmington, Del.; brother-in-law Peter Nason of Albany Township; nephews Joshua Nason of Manchester and Adam Nason of Auburn, and niece Caroline Nason Mitchell and husband Chris of Emerald Hills, Calif.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Philip's Church. Committal will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park. A service of The Fortin Group Funeral Home, Cremation and Monument Services, 217 Turner St., Auburn, 783-854. www.thefortingroup.com.
