Louise Sloboda Obituary

Louise A. (Swift) Sloboda, 84 GORHAM -- Mrs. Louise A. (Swift) Sloboda of Gorham, formerly of West Newton and Waltham, Mass., died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in her home. She was 84. Born in Newton, Mass., Louise had lived for most of her life in West Newton, and for over 15 years, she had lived in Waltham, Mass. For the past six years, she was a resident of Gorham. Louise was a devout Catholic and graduated from Our Lady's Catholic School in Newton. A retired medical secretary, she volunteered at the DeCordova Museum in Lincoln and was a patron of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Louise enjoyed walking, biking, cross country skiing and most of all spending time with her late husband, John. Louise was a kind, gentle, and loving woman who will be missed by all. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Sloboda and the daughter of the late John A. and Louise F. (Joyce) Swift. She leaves her children, John M. 'Jack' Sloboda and his wife Carolyn of Hudson, N.H., Gail Padilla and her husband Don of Albuquerque, N.M., and Nancy Lombardi and her husband Phil of Windham; four grandsons, four granddaughters; six great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Family and friends will honor and remember Louise's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., (Route 20), Waltham, Mass., on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St., Newton, Mass., where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham, Mass.
