Raymond Dumont Obituary

Raymond A. Dumont, 82 SANFORD -- Raymond A. Dumont, 82, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. The youngest of 17 children, he was born in Rollingsford, N.H., on March 14, 1926, the son of Joseph Sr., and Appoline (Parent) Dumont. He attended local schools and then served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On Nov. 25, 1961, he married the former Ida Irene Lemieux in Sanford. He was a lifelong communicant of Holy Family Parish. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after many years of service. He is predeceased by his first wife, Esther (Grinnell) Dumont; as well as several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ida Irene Dumont of Sanford; two sons, Paul William Dumont of Wolfeboro Falls, N.H. and Mark R. Dumont and his wife Martha of Saco; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and his brothers and sisters, Jeannette Girard of Sanford, Andre-Henry Dumont of Sanford, Joseph Dumont Jr. of Brunswick, Simone Fortier of Concord, N.H., Omer Dumont of Sanford, Conrad Dumont of Sidney and Lillian Couture of Sanford. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, March 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thér�se of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford. Burial will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
