What I remeber of Chuck is he was tall and had a sweet smile. I was young when I knew him and ! hadn't seen him for probably 30 years. I always saw pictures and there was always talk of Chuck and what he was up to. Chuck is my cousin and I wish peace to his family throughout this time of grieving.

Dear Chuck,
From the time I was born, you were my big brother. We shared many great times and happy moments; too many to count. Thank you. I carry you in my heart and my memories. I miss you.

Chuck,
While this seems different writing to you in the Herald, I hope your friends, family, and total strangers can read about what an amazing human you are. Not a day passed working together when we didnt have a great laugh or pass on something cool to one another. I cant even begin to tell you how much the "groms" like Adam, Chris, Otis, myself and others were taught life lessons from you. Not a day will go by without one or two of these lessons, consciously or not, being put into practice by one of us. I can only imagine how cool the paddleout must have been and without a doubt it found you wherever you are surfing these days. Is the water warmer is Heaven??? Take care, brother. You are loved, missed, and only good memories of you is putting a patch in the hole that is in all of our hearts right now.

I was thinking about you as your buddies circled up in the ocean this evening. I have been delighted to see how you made such a good place for yourself in Seaside and beyond. I love that you were so loved and will be missed. Thanks for being my brother.

I was told wear my board could be repaired ..... when I went to get my board it looked good. I closed my eyes and slid my hand across the deck and said, "I can't feel the repair."
He said, "I love it when that happens."
Months later the same board 'delamed' across the deck rail to rail. "It could be repair but....," and in few words I came to understand the days of surfing my beloved 8' 0" were over. His truthful assessment brought a quick decision, "Chuck, I'm going to buy a new board and make that one a table." He replied instantly in an effortless tone of affirmation, "good decision."
I was gifted with being there for less than a few times. Quality times he brought. Truth is in the transitions.
