CHAMPAIGN – George Chin Moy, 84, passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Dec. 12, 2006, at his Champaign home. There will be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at Owens Funeral Home (101 N. Elm St.) in Champaign. The funeral service will be at
10 a.m. on Dec. 20, 2006, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jennie Chin officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana.
George was born on Oct. 23, 1922, in China, a son of Mr. Tom Moy and Mrs. Ching Toy King Moy. He is survived by a son, George (Elaine Massock) Chin Jr., Eddie Chin and Jennie Chin. Mr. Chin Moy is also survived by six grandchildren, David and Julianne White and Mike, John, Lauren and Alex Chin.
George was preceded in death by his two sisters, Suey Ming Leong and Suey Yee Gong.
George owned and operated the House of Chin Chinese restaurant on Sixth Street for more than 30 years, where he practiced his great passion in life: cooking. Memorials may be given to the National Emphysema Foundation, 128 East Ave., Norwalk, CT 06851.
