The Lloyd Bridges Dynasty

In this century, Lloyd Bridges's fame has been eclipsed by that of his talented sons, Jeff and Beau. But when those two were just youngsters, their father was a star of big screen and small.

One of Bridges's first successes was on the late-1950s TV show Sea Hunt. Playing an ex-frogman turned freelance scuba diver, Bridges brought rugged adventure to the screen. Though an inexperienced diver when Sea Hunt began, Bridges learned more over the course of the show's four-season run, and eventually did all his own scuba shots except the most dangerous stunts.

As his sons grew older and began their own acting careers, Lloyd Bridges sometimes worked with them – as well as with his actress wife, Dorothy. In a family with so much talent, who can resist collaborating? Dorothy appeared on Sea Hunt; Beau and Lloyd starred together on television in the '90s Western Harts of the West; both sons made it to Lloyd's anthology show The Lloyd Bridges Show.

And the Bridges acting dynasty continues: as the sons' careers continue to thrive, grandson Jordan Bridges is beginning to shine, appearing on TNT crime drama Rizzoli & Isles.

But it all goes back to Lloyd Bridges, who died Mar. 10, 1998. From Sea Hunt to Seinfeld, The Alcoa Hour to Airplane!, he was one of the greats.
