Robert Michael Morris

Robert Michael Morris, the character actor who starred on HBO’s “The Comeback,” has died at the age of 77, according to multiple news reports. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Morris played Mickey Dean, the hairdresser and confidant of actress Valerie Cherish, on the HBO series “The Comeback.” Cherish was played by actress Lisa Kudrow.

Kudrow tweeted, “We lost Robert Michael Morris today. He left us with many wonderful gifts, most importantly, an example of what a truly good soul looks like.”

Morris was a college theater professor who became a professional actor later in life. He won the role of Mickey Dean on his first audition.

Michael Patrick King, the creator of “The Comeback,” said in a statement, “Robert Michael Morris was an inspiration to write for and to be around. His creativity was only matched by the joy and gratefulness he felt for each day he got to live his life as an artist.”

After his success on “The Comeback,” Morris appeared on the television shows “Arrested Development,” “How I Met Your Mother,” and “2 Broke Girls.”
