Latrese Curtis Obituary
Mrs. Curtis was married to her husband, Darin Lee Curtis of Raleigh on April 27, 2007. She attended Bennett College and Wake Tech and was presently a senior at NCCU, majoring in Accounting, while working part- time at Sears.
Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at God's City of Refuge with Apostle in Newport Willie Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Bayview Cemetery Morehead City.
In addition to her husband; she is survived by her parents, Sherman and Cynthia Jones of Raleigh; brothers, Justin D. Hammonds and wife, Jennifer and their five children of Griffin, GA, Marlon L. Wheeler and his two children of Raleigh and Jason A. Jones of Crestview, FL ; sister, Shanicia Jones of Crestview, FL; maternal grandfather, John Monroe of Rochester, NY and mother and father-in-law, Elmore and Janet Curtis of Newport. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends 12:30- 1:30 p.m. Monday, prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements by Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.

It is hard to believe that it has been almost a year since God called Latrese home. I have thought about you at least a thousand times since. I am not sure why you have laid so heavily on my mind. Maybe it is because it is so hard to believe that someone so beautiful and sweet could be so tragically taken away from those who loved you as a daughter, sister, cousin, wife or friend. But as long as we all think of you, you WILL live on. I will always keep you and your family in my heart and thoughts. To the family, remember that Jesus makes all things new.....

As the days go on, and time passes, your spirit is still felt. We dont understand why you had to leave so soon, just when life was about to hand you success, GOD felt he needed you for himself. Thats something no one can argue with,but understand your HUSBAND misses you as well as the Green Family. We enjoyed your company with laughter and joy..... It just doesnt seem real to me that you, a angel, my COUSIN, is gone.

My cousin, my heart. There are absolutley no words that I can say to make things better or easier. But I can say this, GOD has a plan, no one knows what it is at this time, but know GOD has a plan for you. You lost someone so dear to you, your love your heart and soul. I used to watch how you talked and looked at her, and I could tell that she was your everything. Im sorry cousin, hugs and spiritual guidence is all I can do, but with that I hope it helps. KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND LOOK TO THE SKIES, ............. SHES ALWAYS SMILING DOWN!!

Darin & Family,
There are many things that happen in our lives that we don't understand, and sometimes it's so hard for us to grasp the fact that God has hand picked our trials. We often wonder why certain things happen in our lives and what could we have done to prevent them, but know that when we are in Christ nothing happens to us unless God allows it. In everything, he has a purpose, and our responsiblity is to find out what it is that he wants us to learn from our experiences and to give him the glory in all of our trials. We can only imagine the pain you must feel, but know that we serve an awesome God who knows everything about us. No matter how hard it gets continue to walk with God, don't let go of his hand and I know that he will see you through.

Our prayers go out to the Curtis and Jones family. Darin is a friend of mine. We use to go to the same church. I never got to meet Latrese, but she like a nice person from the desriptions I have heard. Darin, know that God is still on the throne and he will never leave you nor forsake you. Remember Proverbs 3:5-6.

I am sorry for the loss that these two families had to endure. Darin is a friend of mine, and even though I never had the privilege of meeting Latreses, knowing Darin, and the smile he always had on, she must have been an amazing woman. Stay strong Darin.

To the family, my heart goes out to you. Even though I hadn't seen her since you guys moved away from Crestview. I still remember her smile as a little girl. My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time. Although I have known Latrese for just a brief time, she made a very favorable impression on me during that time. She was a member of my 8 a.m. Business Communication class at NCCU since classes began in January, 2008. She was always in her seat near the front of the class on time and wearing a smile.
