I am so sorry for your loss. Andrew was a GREAT man, i remember us being little kids we would play and he always looked out for me and jessica to make sure nothing would happen to us as we were playing. He had a dream and he lived it to the fullest extend. I hope you can find a way in your heart to ease the pain and carry on. He will be in my heart forever.

Melissa & Family of A.J.,
You do not know me, but my husband is Charles Eugene East and is a Captain of the Raleigh Fire Department at Station 28. I met all of you on Sunday. I want you to know that my heart aches for all of you. You all have been in my thoughts and prayers recently. It's so unfair to lose someone you love and to accept what has happened. I personally, cope with the loss of my father everyday. We were so close. It gets a bit easier to deal with as time passes, but the emptiness will always remain. It's reality. In all of A.J.'s pictures he looks to have been such a kind & sweet person. I know healing will take time, but rely on others who care to help you cope with your loss. It does help to have others understand what you are going through. "We all have been there". To Melissa, I'm so sorry. What do you say?, I ask myself. I can't imagine what it must be like for you. Always believe that you were lucky enough to have been his wife and partner. My prayers are with you. God Bless

As a mother and sister of Raleigh firefighters, I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Johnson family and with A.J.'s extended family at the Raleigh Fire Department. At a time like this, I know that no words can help you to deal with the pain you have, but know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. May time, family and friends help you to find comfort in your days to come. I know he will be greatly missed at Station 11.
