Lisa Cooper Obituary

The irreverent, snarky, sarcastic and most hilarious Lisa M. Cooper crashed the Pearly Gates Sunday, December 7. Lisa, aka Darlene Connor, was as cocky as they come, a left-handed guitarist for Picasso Trigger, a quiet little 1990's Raleigh band. After her band days,Lisa in 2000 embarked on the most unlikely of careers as a stewardess for American Airlines, settling in St. Louis.
A heartfelt thank you to Tommie and Chad and her amazing friends who cared for her since her cancer diagnosis in 2006.
Lisa's now at peace - however much peace a punk rocker can stand. A tribute to Coop will be Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at The Office Tavern, even though she herself would boycott it. "Should we walk into the wind? Maybe fall when autumn falls? Let's walk into the wind."

I've also lately been thinking about how much support Lisa gave to female musicians. She arranged tours, booked bands together in venues, she was so active and empowering for females in rock and roll.

Lisa,
I can't say how often I spoke of you over the years. describing your amazing talent or wit. Your "in your face attitude" or your kindness. Although you'd never admit the kindness part. The time I knew you in Raleigh was special and you were special. You will be greatly missed.

Lisa,
What can I say? You had a crazy cat, you were funny, you had curly red hair that was amazing!!!, you were interesting and witty. I am glad to have had the opportunity to be your friend, for however brief the time period. Meeting you in flight attendant training and sharing a crash pad in Winthrop, MA was one of the most fascinating times in my life. My thoughts are with your family and close friends and you will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing you. God bless you and say hi to our friend Jeannie..

What an honor to have been blessed by Lisa's life. She was truly an inspiration to me as she "trudged" her path with dignity and grace. My life is richer today as a result of her prescense in my life. I am glad her pain is ended & she's finally at peace, but am jealous that she will never have to place another tech support call to "Habib" at Dell Computer!

I love you, girl! I do, and will, miss you. Thanks for being a part of my recovery.

Tommy, Chad, & Melista.... thank you for always being there for Coop.. you'll never know how much that meant to her and how much she loved you.

To all the family & friends... you are in my prayers as you grieve. May God grant you peace & may you find comfort in the many joyful memories you are left with.

To my sister: We didn't see or talk to each other as much as I wanted, but you knew how much you meant to me. Your positive attitude over these past couple of years has been inspiring. I love you & miss you!

To Tommie, Chad, Melista & Kirstin (sorry if I goofed on spelling anyone's name): Thank you all SO MUCH for the care, love & support you gave Lisa.

From you niece, Hannah... I will always remember Lisa Cooper as a great aunt, a good friend and a desirable person to be around. She was warm-hearted, loved to be around family & friends, & was just friendly & also nice. She was one of the best people I have ever known. I believe she is in a better place & I will always remember this wonderful woman for the rest of my life.

Lisa was an amazing guitarist and had the best hair in the world. iIm so glad my band got to play with Picasso Trigger and later also with her other acts. She always had some clever and hilarious take on things that I would never have thought of. Condolences to all her friends, especially the ones who took care of her during the illness.
