Darrell Nix Obituary
He was born December 20, 1946 in Farmville, VA, to Amy Locke Nix and the late Paul Oliver Nix.
Darrell played football for Coach Pete Stout at Western Alamance High School and was salutatorian at Western in 1965. He graduated from NC State University in 1969 and later received a master's degree from James Madison University at Charlottesville, VA. Darrell retired from the N.C. Department of Revenue, was a member of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church and several local Shag Clubs. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Left to cherish his memory, his mother Amy Locke Nix; his children, Deana Nix Byrd Yeomans and husband, Robert, Darren Nix and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Brittany Byrd, Brooke Byrd, Jacob Nix, Shelby Nix, Alayna Nix; step-grandsons, Nikolas Schatz and Kyle Yeomans; sister, Mary Anne Johnson (Sidney); nieces, Michelle Johnson Newton, Mackenzie Newton, Mercy Grace Johnson; nephews, Sidney Johnson II, Josiah Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson.
In addition to his father, Darrell was preceded in death by his grandparents, Z.L. and Susan Annie Pharis Nix, and Macy and Mary Dunn Locke.
Funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Sunset Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Roberson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Pine Forest Memorial Gardens in Wake Forest.

Darren & Deana- My sympathies to you both. Unless you have experienced the loss of a parent, it is hard to describe the emptiness and loss that is felt when it occurs. In the most unfortunate of circumstances there is good... God sees to it. I pray for your strength and peace.

My prayers are with your family as you feel the loss of Darrell. I will miss dancing with him at TJ's. He was a proud father and grandfather. You could tell he loved his family by the way he talked about you. He will be missed.
