Robert Thompson Obituary

Robert Bruce Thompson, 71, died Monday, March 2, 2009 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Episcopal Church with the Rev. Noah Howard and Rev. Julian Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael Episcopal Church Cemetery.
Bruce was a avid car and sports enthusiast.
Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Thompson, his mother, Clara Thompson and a sister, Bobbi Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Margaret C. Thompson; daughters, Nancy Bruce Alvarez of Tarboro and Deianna Johnson of PA; father, O.F. Thompson and wife, Eva of Tarboro;sisters, Bonnie Hagan of Wilson and Judy Williams of Tarboro; eight grandchildren and special friends at the round table.
Friends are invited to visit the family Thursday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at 1104 Peach St., Tarboro.

To Bruce's family: O.F. I have often wondered where Bruce was. I moved to Raleigh & now to Newport News,Va. Betsy Lou James my cousin told me about this.Our families have known each other for many,many years.I have missed the
chance to see Bruce's smiling face & hear his laughter forever. He always made me smile. I cannot say enough about how much Bruce meant to me as a friend..
My heart is heavy and my prayers are with the family.

I was saddened to hear of the death of Bruce Thompson. He was a THS classmate of my brother, Mike. I knew him as a member of THS Tiger football as a freshman ( or 8th grade, I forget which!!) tackling dummy. I was the dummy......
