Katharine Ruffner Obituary

Katharine Thiem Ruffner, 95, of Raleigh, died Wednesday.
Mrs. Ruffner was born in Raleigh on October 21, 1913 to the late John B. Thiem and Alberta Pugh Thiem. Mrs. Ruffner was a graduate of Meredith College, a member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church, founding member of the Coesbury-Isley Sunday School Class, member of the United Methodist Women, member of the Cosmos Book Club, and the Colonel Polk Chapter of the DAR.
After 56 years of marriage, Mrs. Ruffner was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Ruffner, Sr. in 1990.
Surviving Mrs. Ruffner are a son, Robert F. Ruffner, Jr. and his wife, Doris of Wilmington; a daughter, Katharine R. Senn and her husband, Laurence of Palm City, FL.; four grandchildren, Anne and Eliza Ruffner of Raleigh, Laura Zimmermann of New Providence, NJ and Robin Urbanski of Arlington, VT.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 in the Auditorium at Springmoor. Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009 at Montlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Brown- Wynne Funeral Home, St. Mary's Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Springmoor Foundation, 1500 Sawmill Road, Raleigh, NC 276215.
