Charles Willis Obituary

Charles "Philip" Willis, II, 13, of Charlotte, NC passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009 in Levine Hospital.
He was born February 21, 1996 to Nickie Napier Willis and Charles Philip Willis in Charlotte. During his life Philip brought so many people together, from the youngest to the oldest. Making friends was very easy for him. He loved everyone. Of the awards that Philip received in school, the most memorable is his recognition for being the "Most Lovable". This award was presented to him for his unique ability to capture everyone's heart with his gentle touches, and friendly attitude. He is truly deserving.
He is survived by his mother, Nickie Willis of Charlotte; his father, Charles Willis of Little River, SC; maternal grandparents, John and Sherry Napier, and Geof and Pam Martin.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Owen and Nancy Willis of Dunn.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Friday, March 27, 2009 in McEwen Funeral Service Derita Chapel 6300 Mallard Creek Road Charlotte, NC.
His memorial service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with John Mauldin officiating. In addition to the service in Charlotte, a memorial service is also being planned for Philip to be held in Dunn, NC at Skinner & Smith Chapel on Sunday, April 5 , 2009 at 4:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kids Path-Children's Program & Home health c/o Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region 1420 East 7th St. Charlotte, NC 28204, Backpack Ministries c/o Hood Memorial Christian Church of Dunn, NC, or to a children's' charity of your choice in memory of Philip.
The family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to all the people that have touched Philip's life.

Dear Nickie and Charles,
I was so saddened to learn of Philip's passing. I well remember my Mama (Charlotte Herring) saying what a sweet baby he was. That he was given an award for Most Lovable is something you can be so proud of. The quality and impact of someone's life has little to do with length of years. Philip sounds so very special.Someone you love always lives on in your heart and mind . May memories of your time with Philip bring you comfort in time to come.
Love , Caroline Herring Watson

Charles, I know how much Philip meant to your life and to the many lives he touched. Just know God takes all His angels home when their work here is finished, leaving those whose lives they touched a better person. My prayers are with you, Nickie and family members. In closing, just know each time you see the brightest star shining down, it is Phillip letting you know he loves you.
