Mary Helwig Obituary
Born in Paterson, Mrs. Helwig lived in Allamuchy and Hackettstown before moving to Dingmans Ferry.
Mrs. Helwig was a former telephone operator for Bell Telephone and also worked for local Sussex County doctors for their answering service.
The daughter of the late Steven and Rosemary Williams Morris, she was predeceased by her husband, John Helwig, who died Nov. 19, 1987.
She is survived by her four daughters, Diane Bocchino of Sandyton Township, and Melissa Floystad, Patricia Helwig and Mary Rempkowiski, all of Dingmans Ferry; one sister, Viola Pittulo of Totowa; and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services will start Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton. Interment will follow in Tranquility Cemetery in Tranquility. Visitation will be held Monday, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
