Denis Waldron Obituary

HARDYSTON - Denis M. "Max" Waldron, 61, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2008, at Morristown Memorial Hospital.

Max was born in Newark to the late Dr. John and Tatiana Waldron.

After serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam era, Max worked in the restaurant industry from Piscataway to the New Jersey shore. It was during that time that he met his wife, Joan Thompson Waldon. He not only married Joan, but also married into a large Italian family that he embraced.

Max and Joan moved from the Jersey shore to Sussex County and opened up Max's Station House in Andover Township in 1983. He enjoyed entertaining customers and friends at their establishment and built a strong extended family from the country setting of Sussex County to the Jersey shore.

Besides frequent migrations to St. Martin, Max enjoyed golfing with the guys at the golf courses with the best hot dogs.

He leaves behind his wife Joan; son Otis; brothers, John Waldron and Steve Waldron and his wife, Eileen; sister Nina Herbster and her husband, Robert; sister-in-law Karen Thompson; surrogate granddaughter Amara Skerry; and a host of family and friends too many to mention.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, at noon, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 24 Halsted St., Newton.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
