Eleanor Milone Obituary

STANHOPE - Eleanor Savacool Milone, 80, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover.

Born in Chatham, Mrs. Milone resided in Stanhope all her life. She enjoyed playing mahjong and was a homemaker extraordinaire who shared her many talents with family and friends.

Mrs. Milone was the loving wife of Chet, who passed in 2006; beloved mother of Elizabeth Wortendyke and her husband, Martin, of Nyack, N.Y., Colleen Basenese and her husband, Max, of Andover and Christine Sweeney and her husband, Michael, of Allamuchy; adoring grandmother of Krista Wortendyke and Erika Henrick, both of Chicago, Ill., and Cathleen and Kelly Sweeney, both of Allamuchy; dear sister of Ron Savacool of Lewes, Del., and Betty Garrigus of Leland, N.C.; beloved sister-in-law of Francis Ross of Netcong, Stella Grish of Bangor, Pa., and Pauline Milone of Roxbury. Mrs. Milone is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, Oct. 4, beginning at 9 a.m. from Leber-Lakeside Funeral Home, 150 Landing Road, Landing, with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Stanhope Union Cemetery in Mount Olive Township. The family will receive friends and relatives for visiting hours on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860 or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 400 West Blackwell St., Dover, NJ 07801.

I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Milone. She was the classroom mother, the brownie and girl scout leader and mom to Colleen whom I have been friends with forever! I know she will be missed.
