I was a kid growing up in Clewiston, fl. And I got to watch Calvin practice at the Clewiston country club. The club didn't have a driving range and Calvin would put an umbrella a certain distance. We kids on the high school golf team would watch him drop ball after ball all around that umbrella. Calvin was such a gentleman to everyone. I always followed Calvin when he was on the tour. He would always spend time and talk to the kids at the course when he was practicing. That time I'll never forget, thank you Calvin, god speed!!!

I always enjoyed watching Mr. Calvin play, in Jacksonville and at Hilton Head. He "always" was friendly to the spectators on the tour, and he had a million dollar smile that was genuine. I never got to actually speak to him personally until a couple of years ago at the Legends in Savannah, it was very enjoyable. Calvin has a new arm now, but you know maybe not, because God had a plan when he fell out that tree, and God probably told him when he arrived, Cal,no need to change that imperfection now, because you are perfect in my sight, welcome my faithful servant.God bless you Mrs Pepper and your family, enjoy the memories. In loving memory of a fine gentleman! My father played in the Pro-Am tournament with Mr. Peete at the BC Open in Endicott, NY when I was young. I remember my father saying what an honor it was for him to play with such a wonderful man and golfer.
Since then I have only had 3 real favorites in golf and Mr. Pete is at the top of the list.
To a wonderful man and golfer, may you rest in peace. And to his family, may you always remember what a great man he was, an inspiration to so many and the love he had for his family.
