Kenneth R. "Ken" Peete, 89, formerly of the Tallman Road, Champlain, passed away on October 1, 2025, at Meadowbrook Healthcare in Plattsburgh.

He was born at home in Mooers Forks on May 27, 1936, the son of Russell and Isabell (Supernault) Peete.

Ken joined the United States Marine Corp in June 1954. He shortly became a Marine Sergeant. Ken was stationed in Japan, Okanawa, Korea, Thailand, Panama, Venezuala, and The Canary Islands. Ken was discharged in June 1957, while being stationed in North Carolina. Ken is a Veteran of the Korean War, and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, The American Legion and The VFW.

After his Military discharge, Ken returned home to Mooers Forks and became a Land Surveyor for New York State. He then became a corrections officer at Dannemora Correctional Facility. He spent many years on the road driving for various trucking companies which include Plattsburgh Distributing, Smith Transport, Dorns, Oneida and Joe Ratta Trucking. Ken was also employed with the US Post Office and was a bus driver for the NCCS school district. Ken retired in 2011.

Ken enjoyed watching the NY Giants and NASCAR, going to the casino, and especially spending time with his loved ones.

Left to cherish the memory of Ken are, his companion of 38 years, Helen Hicks of Champlain; Helen's family, Barbara Ann and Randy Poupore, Eddie and Debbie Hicks, Donnie and Elizabeth Hicks and Kevin and Dana Hicks, all of Champlain and their children and grandchildren; the mother of his children, Joanne (Monette) Peete; two daughters, Kim and her husband Michael Morgan, of Vera Beach Florida, and Kristie and her husband Sean O'Conner of Mooers; son, David and his wife Deanna Peete of Holly Springs, North Carolina; brother Gerald and his wife Barbara Peete; and sister, Norma and her husband Gerald Menard. Ken was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a number of beloved nieces and nephews.

Ken was predeceased by his parents; grandparents; and aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 1 to 3 PM at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 793 Gilbert Road, Mooers. A funeral service will follow at 3 PM in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayers, full military honors, and burial will follow the St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Kenneth R. Peete may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Meadowbrook Nursing Home for the exceptional care and compassion they provided to Ken during his time there.
