Charlotte Jane Zack

BENNINGTON, VT. — Charlotte Jane (Owens) Zack, 83, of Ridgewood, died on Jan. 25.

She was born on March 11, 1929 in Ossining, N.Y., the eldest daughter of the late Garldon Guy Owens and Charlotte Cecelia Beach Owens. On July 26, 1952 she married James Zack at Christ Church in Ridgewood, her husband of almost 60 years, who predeceased her. She resided in Ridgewood (the lifelong home of her husband) for almost 50 years. She also resided briefly in Holland and Kuwait. Along with her husband she visited all 48 contiguous states and Alaska by car. She was a member of the Children's Aid and Family Services organization for many years, volunteering at The Depot in Midland Park. She researched her family's genealogy and became a member of the Saddle River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her children, Jenny (Jeff) Peer of Howard, N.Y., Gary (Kathy) Zack of Pequannock and Holly Zack of Vassalboro, Maine; her grandchildren, Matthew (Jessica) Peer, David Peer (Elizabeth Magill), Kaitlin Zack (Zachary Dumont) and Christopher Zack; her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ella Peer; and her sisters, Diane Smarro and Belinda (Edward) Watkins.

Arrangements were by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood.
