Hudson Family Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 24, 2008.
CHICAGO - Chicago police say singer and actress Jennifer Hudson has identified the body of her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, who was found dead in a sport utility vehicle. Julian was the focus of a desperate search since the Oscar winner's mother and brother were found shot to death in their home three days earlier.

Hudson had offered $100,000 Sunday for information leading to Julian's safe return. He is the son of Jennifer Hudson's sister, Julia Hudson. Chicago police are also investigating the deaths of the Oscar-winning actress' mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, who were found shot dead at their South Side home.

"We're just sad. We're going through this stage where we're just sad and in shock," Hudson's aunt, Dorothy Hudson, said Monday. Dorothy Hudson and her husband, John, own a Chicago funeral home that plans to handle arrangements for the family.

The tragedy comes as Hudson, who grew up in Chicago, continues to reach new heights in her career. In an interview last year with Vogue, Hudson credited her mother with encouraging her to audition for "American Idol," which launched her career.

The singer, whose father died when she was a teenager, described herself as very close to her family. In a recent AP interview she said her family, which includes older siblings Julia and Jason, helped keep her grounded.

"My faith in God and my family, they're very realistic and very normal, they're not into the whole limelight kind of thing, so when I go home to Chicago that's just another place that's home," she said. "I stand in line with everybody else, or, when I go home to my mom I'm just Jennifer, (so she says), 'You get up and you take care of your own stuff.' And I love that; I don't like when people tell you everything you want to hear, I want to hear the truth, you know what I mean."

My deepest condolences to Jennifer and her family for their tragic loss.

When you here of terrorist attacks or natural disasters or when you experience a personal tragedy, we often wonder if God sees what is happening? We wonder if he cares? Is he even there? Nothing could be further from the truth! His Word provides us with comforting answers.
That Kingdom you pray for in the Lord's Prayer, Matt 6:9, is the means by which God will soon accomplish his original purpose for mankind. God has not left mankind. Acts 17:27 brings out "he is not far off from each one of us." So although, we still have to live with personal tragedy, our hope is in God.
Wise King Solomon said that there is "a time to weep." But he also said that there needs to be a time "a time to heal."--Ecclesiastes 3:3,4
Overcoming such a painful loss is not easy and yet, Jennifer, you are a source of inspiration and hope to others. I am sure there are ups and downs, and life will never be the same.
You can appreciate life as being a precious gift, even after the heartache of being separated from loved ones. And you have set the example for many, that those who live on after such terrible loss still have much to contribute to others.--Ecclesiastes 11:7,8
Jennifer, I know that because of God's Blessing, a beautiful son, you will help him appreciate the gift of LIFE!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.

I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.

There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.

And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.

God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years

because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.

Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.

I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;

but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...

that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,

then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."

And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,

knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,

just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;

I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,

remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

To the Hudson,
You have my deepest sympathy. What happened to your family will be undone by our heavenly Father, for He has a yearning to unite us with our loved ones. For he has promised to bring to ruin our enemy "death." (1 corinthians 15: 28) So we all look forward to the day that we can be with our loved ones, again! May our Father give you peace.
