James Dohoney Obituary

BLOOMINGDALE — Services were held for James Dohoney, 79, of Toms River, who died on Thursday, March 29, 2012. He was the father of Alice Cappello of this community.

Mr. Dohoney lived in Clifton before moving to Toms River. He was a parishioner of St. Clare's Church, Clifton, where he was a Eucharistic minister and usher. Also, he was a past president of St. Clare's Holy Name Society, a fourth degree and Color Corps member of Knights of Columbus Msgr. Stein Assembly 0645, and a member of Knights of Columbus Regina Mundi Council 3969, Clifton. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of Clifton American Legion Post 8. And, he was a member of the Holiday City Berkeley Irish-American Club and the Ocean Beach Unit III Beach and Bay Club.

Services were Monday at the Allwood Funeral Home, Clifton, followed by Mass at St. Clare's Church. Interment was at St. Gertrude Cemetery & Mausoleum, Colonia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mr. Dohoney also is survived by his wife, the former Mary Doyle; his other daughters, Mary Beth Gabel, of Florham Park; and four grandchildren.
