Jacquelyn Perkins Obituary

Jacquelyn Wilcox Perkins "Jackie" 1945 ~ 2005 Jackie quietly passed from her earthly bonds on Oct. 11, 2005 while living at the home of her loving niece and her husband, Denise and Larry Argyle. The family will be forever grateful for the loving care she has received living with them. Jackie was born on January 26, 1945 to Orvel John and Jennie Josephine Perkins at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. She was the youngest of nine children and is survived by only two brothers, Doyle (Marlene) Perkins and Blaine (Jean) Perkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Josephine and Baby Perkins, and her four brothers, Orvel (Perk), DeWayne, Nolan, and Roy. Jackie was active in the LDS church all of her life and raised an entire generation of children working in Primary in several different positions at the Garden Park Ward. She also served a mission at Temple Square and at The Joseph Smith Building. In spite of her birth afflictions she was a capable artist and learned to play the piano through a dedicated teacher and friend, Lois Waltman. Our thanks go to many people who allowed Jackie to reach her full potential in life and gave her the confidence to move forward with her life. The people at the Work Activity Center worked with Jackie on many fronts, including Special Olympics participation. You are all aware of all the medals that she earned and she was rightfully proud of her accomplishments. Through her parents and her sister, Josephine, she became a world traveler and remembered most of the places with great pride and pleasure. She was "Aunt Jackie" to many loving nieces and nephews and spent many hours helping to tend them while they were at grandma's house. She will be missed by all who have known her and have been touched by her happiness and companionship. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Special Olympics or the Perpetual Missionary Fund. A viewing will be held at the Deseret Mortuary from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, October 14, 2005. A visitation will be available prior to the service on Saturday, October 15, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Services will be at the Garden Park Ward, 1150 East Yale Ave. at 12 noon. Dear Perkins Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. We all loved Aunt Jackie. Denise and Larry, you will receive many blessings for caring for her. She was such a joy! I remember her tending Cindy and I. We could be such little stinkers and she was so patient with us. The Cronin family from 2520 east SLC remember her fondly. We ask God's Blessings on Denney and his family, Cindy-Lou and her family and of course, Denise and larry and their family.

Jackie had a wounderful well loved life because of the gracious family she was born into.

God Bless You All,

Michelle Cronin Stanga

To the Argyle family:

Words cannot express the blessing that Jackie and your family have been in my life. The few chances that I got to care for Jackie were so special and the spirit she carried with her was so strong. I am so grateful for the decision you made to take Jackie in and care for her. Because of that decision, many others have been very blessed to have known her. I will miss her immensely and want you to know that I am praying for your family and want to help in anyway I can. With all my love.

Doyle and Marlene-

Life gives us choices and life gives us challenges. You two decided to leave your home and family and return to Salt Lake to be with Jackie. What a great thing that was and what a wonderful turn of events came of it. Thank you for coming back so we could all get to know you again and thank you for letting us be a part of your world with Jackie. She always had something positive to offer in a sometimes negative world. Please know that we grieve with you and are happy that she is with her father, mother, sister and brothers again. She'll be very happy now - she missed them so much.

We love you and are here for you always.

Love,

Doug Castleton and Suzy Roderick

Denise and Larry-

Doug and I want you to know that we know better than anyone except Doyle and Marlene the sacrifices you made to take care of Jackie. She loved you and missed you terribly when you left her - even for a short while - you were her surrogate parents. And to your children - thank you for accepting your mother's decision to be there for Jackie - you stood by her and honored her wishes. There aren't many famiies who would have done that. Denise - you packed her bags the same way you did your own kids and never forgot her snacks, her crossword puzzles or her markers. She was treated like a queen by you and bragged on you whenever she got a chance. Sorry we've been a little distant we had our own cross to bear for a while. Thanks for being you!

Love,

Doug Castleton and Suzy Roderick.
