Robert Traylor Obituary
Police in San Juan, Puerto Rico, said in a statement he was found dead Wednesday on the bedroom floor of his oceanfront apartment. Police and the Bayamon Cowboys basketball team said he had been missing for a few days and apparently died from a heart attack.
The Cowboys said he had been sidelined by an injury lately but had remained in the U.S. territory to complete his rehabilitation. They suspended their game Wednesday night because of his death.
Traylor was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks as the sixth pick overall in 1998 but played for the Milwaukee Bucks his first two seasons. He spent seven years in the NBA and also played for Cleveland, Charlotte and New Orleans. He earned his nickname because of his size, measuring 6-foot-8 and weighing nearly 300 pounds (136 kilograms). Doctors had operated on his aorta in 2005.

What a gentle soul and a really nice person. My family and I met Robert on our first visit to Isla Verde Beach. He spoke of his children and loved talking to our two girls. He spoke to many fans that day but would continue the discussion with us. My 9 yr old even got him to go into the water (lol).
Thank you Mrs. Taylor for raising such a fine man. We are so sorry for your loss. Blessing to all of The Taylor Family and may you find comfort in the kind words the world has expressed.

I had the pleasure of getting to know and then becoming a friend of Robert Traylor when he played at Michigan. As I paid my last respects at the Swanson Funeral home, all I could think of was his great personality and competitive spirit as he wore #54. My sympathies and prayers go out to his family.

Robert was an outstanding person
on and off the court as a “BUCK” #54 “TRACTOR”
Robert always put him self 2nd to lend a helping hand to any one in need. Giving back to his community back home making sure he lived up to his grandma ‘s goals she had for him.
I was blessed to meet Robert in 98’ as he wear #54 for The Milwaukee Bucks! I worked with Robert side by side within the community as a buck my self within the community relations dep. Robert was a great player to work with always ready to meet the community with open arms and welling to give back with a BIG SMILE :-) and even more then what was asked of him.
Although no words can really help to ease the loss you bear, just know that you are very close in every thought and prayer.
May you find strength in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends.

To the Traylor Family, we are devastated by the loss of Robert. We followed his entire basketball career and just cannot believe his loss. We are the same age and I just cannot believe that he has left us so soon.
Thank God for the time that he blessed everyone with him. We will be praying for his entire family.
