Russell Stobie Obituary

Russell A. Stobie, 76, of Vickery, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, July 13, 2011.
Russell was born on August 8, 1934 in Cleveland, OH. He retired as a construction worker, having also worked for various businesses including Ford and Davis Besse. He was a volunteer fireman for the Lakeside Fire Department for many years, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Danbury, Lakeside, OH. He was a master carpenter and enjoyed farming, gardening, watching sci-fi movies, and cheering for the Cleveland Indians. He loved being outside, crafting beautiful woodwork and maintaining his family's garden.
Russell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joanne (Klueglein) Stobie; children, Deborah (Jim) Howard of Willowick, OH, Timothy (Darri) Stobie, of Sandusky, OH, Barbara Rayle of Bradner, OH, Mark (Ivy) Stobie, of Beavercreek, OH, and Janet Hamilton of Vickery; grandchildren, Christa, Daniel, and Kelly Stobie, Marla Hines, Russell, Zach, and Jason Rayle, Andy Roe, Autumn Hamilton, and Ashley (Eric) Shepherd; one sister, Donna(Mike) Popovich, of Elyria, OH, and numerous nieces, nephews and other close relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Lydia Stobie.
Friends will be received from 1-2 pm on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, until time of memorial service at 2 pm. Pastor Chris Young will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lakeside Fire Department, 9551 E. Harbor Rd., Lakeside-Marblehead, OH 43440. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.grofffuneralhomes.com.

Russ was really a nice guy! I worked with him when he cooked at Brassel's Restaurant years ago. Very dependable, friendly and fun to be around.
