Please accept my sincere condolences on the death of your dear love one. “And no resident will say: I am sick…” Isa 33:24. This is a promise God has made known in his word. Perhaps one day in the divine future you or I may see again those fallen from our lives due to a sickness or illness that led to an untimely death. Prayers go out to the surviving family and friends may the God of comfort continue to bless you and yours.

Dick Francis was a good auther.
Although I DIDN'T get into his books
like some-my favorie book of his was TO THE HILT. His only book I've ever read.
I liked Alexander Kinloch and his story.
And I liked Al's wife Emily and Al's mother too.

Mr. Francis was my favorite writer. I started reading his books over 30 years ago and have read them all. He was truly a gentleman writer with whom I felt a connection through his marvelous characters. I always feel not only entertained when reading a Francis book, but as if I am being taught a lesson on how to be a good person and make a difference during my time on this earth. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences are with you in your time of grief. May you continue to find comfort in the memories that you all shared together and get comfort from knowing one day Sickness will be no more and Death will be a thing of the past. In times of grief such as these, I find it comforting to meditate on the words found in the Holy Writings at Job 14:14, 15. Job expressed his faith that God would bring him back to life if he should fall asleep in death, "All the days of my compulsory service I shall wait, until my relief comes. You will call, and I myself shall answer you." The scriptures indicate that it is possible to reunite with your loved one in the near future, right here on earth under peaceful, righteous conditions. Psalms 37:10, 11 offers us this promise. My sincere condolences to your entire family.

Dick's books were a delight to discover when I became a library assistant at Woking library in 1967. After library school at Uxbridge and Surrey County Schools I enjoyed every novel as it came out, and moved to the U.S. in 1978. Through many ups and downs in my life, a kind of steeplechase in itself, Dick's books were the only constant other than coffee and two friendships from that period! And now his son is writing, hooray!! Keeping in touch with England through Dick's books has been very helpful to me. You never know how you touch people. And my passion for glassblowing was satisfied by one of his unusual forays into a world other than horseracing. Maybe someone will now make more films... Juliet, St. Francis, Wisconsin

I've spent probably too many hours reading and re-reading Dick Francis. My sister introduced the whole family to him years ago and we all have a "Francis" library. I loved his characters, especially Sid, and too many more to name. Flying Finish, which I thought was not so good to begin with, is probably my favorite. Thank you, Mr. Francis, for the pleasure you brought me and will continue to do so because I re-read. May you rest in peace.

As I read through this guest book I am struck by the comments of my fellow fans. So many people who Mr. Francis never knew-but who felt that they knew him and thought of him fondly as a friend of sorts. What a lovely thing that is. Count me as one of them. I hope that the well wishes of his 'reader friends' is a comfort to his family.

Decades ago I happily stubled onto my first Dick Francis horserace-related novel. Now I'm 69 and have read most of his fiction and feel richer for it. I've also passed his books along to friends and family. Mr. Francis had the unusual ability of writing about the underside of International horse racing without being lurid or vulgar. I've read one novel co-authored with his son and look forward to what I assume will be the final collaborative one.

I discovered this author when a staff member left some books to share in our lunchroom...Dick Francis was not a name with which I was familiar, but being a mystery lover I took his book home. His style of writing flowed so easily and, before I knew it, it was 2:00 in the morning... His books continued to be "passed around" the office to be enjoyed by many. My condolences to his family. It is good to read that his son will continue his father's legacy.

Glad to see his son pick up the mantle recently, and hope he continues. J Grisaffi (Palatine, IL)

I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. I've always loved his books and have read and re-read them many times. In fact, I had been re-reading a batch of them over the past few weeks, and had bought his newest on Saturday 2/13. He'll definitely be missed, though now he'll be with the wife he loved so much.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
