Remember
Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I am so saddened by this senseless tragedy. Even though I do not live in Arizona, Gabe Zimmerman stood for what is best and right in this world. When I saw his picture the goodness was overflowing in his face. Please know that his memory and his smiling face will never be forgotten. He has touched our lives as has all the other victims in this tragedy. God bless Gabe and his family in this time of sorrow. Thank you. Florence DeMarco

To the Zimmerman family,
Please accept the sincere sympathy of a complete stranger who feels your pain.
Your precious Gabe was obviously a very special young man.
As a 9/11 family member whose niece, Andrea, was killed in NY on Sept. 11, 2001 at age 25, I wanted you to know, should you see this, that many, many people mourn with you, and empathize with you. You are not alone.
Like Gabe, Andrea was engaged to be married the following year (2002) of her death.
Sudden, shocking, random and violent loss is beyond what anyone can imagine or prepare for.
Please try to remember, you are not alone. People understand and will support you, nearby and from a distance.
God be with you.
Sincerely,
Shelley Haberman Casey

I have cried and cried to think of the life this young man was planning and how it was cut short by such a senseless act of violence. To Gabe's fiancee, I pray and pray for you to be able to contine your life with courage and hope. Words cannot express how sorry I am for your loss. May God's peace and love be with all of you. Gabe sounded like an incredible person.

I have always held in high esteem people who serve at the local, state and federal levels of our governments; may they always revel in God’s perduring blessing. I did not personally know Mr. Zimmerman, but I felt a connection to him as a fellow social worker (clinical Emergency and Trauma). The many ways in which he helped and/or served people throughout his life all speak insightfully of his personality and beautiful qualities. As a fellow Tucsonan, I believe that the city/county and state remain indebted to him and will sorely miss him. His family, his friends and his fiancé are all in my prayers. Fr. Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Writing this note brings tears to my eyes as I remember the very day my own 29 year old son died in the Twin Towers on 9/11.I am so deeply saddened by the loss of your son, Gabe, an amazing young man taken from us in the very prime of his life ~ one whose passion in life was concern for his fellow man. It is truly a tragedy so senseless that we may never understand.
I have thought so much about the right words to comfort your family and friends at this time of great sorrow and it is just so hard. So, I will say what is in my heart - I am so deeply sorry. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers through this most difficult time. Be assured, though, we will "never forget" him.
