MORTON – Douglas "Doug" Gene Zimmerman, 75, of Morton, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
He was born August 5, 1950, in Peoria, Illinois, to Walter Zimmerman and Edith (Wiegand) Zimmerman. He married Janie Witzig on December 2, 1973, in Morton. She survives.
He is also survived by two sons, Alan (Natalie) Zimmerman and Tim (Amy) Zimmerman; daughter, Leah (Ryan) Graf; nine grandchildren, Jovie, Delaney, Lorelei, Geneva, Theo, Max, Jackson, Lucy, and Molly all of Morton; two sisters, Susan (Mike) Wehrmann of Sedona, Arizona, Elaine Sollberger of Morton, and one brother, Tom Zimmerman of Morton. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Doug loved God and lived his life faithfully. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them. Doug enjoyed vacationing in Panama City Beach, Florida, where he visited many times throughout his life.
He was a US Army veteran stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Doug was known as a hard worker in the masonry field. He worked his entire career as a bricklayer at Otto Baum, retiring in 2015.
Doug was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Morton, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, December 22, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be held from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, prior to the service at church. Burial will take place in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Morton.
The family would like to thank the staff of Apostolic Christian Restmor for their kind and compassionate care for Doug.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Restmor, Inc., 1500 Parkside Ave, Morton, IL 61550.
