Ginny Tyler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 23, 2012.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Former Disney head Mouseketeer and voice actress Ginny Tyler has died in Washington state at age 86.

Her son Ty Fenton tells the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/LFu5v0 ) that Tyler died of natural causes July 13 at a nursing home in Issaquah, Wash.

When episodes of television's "The Mickey Mouse Club" were repackaged for syndication in 1963, Tyler became the head Mouseketeer who hosted new segments of the TV show that were woven around the old.

Tyler was the voice on the records "Bambi" and "Babes in Toyland."

She also was the voice of Polynesia the Parrot, who helped teach Rex Harrison to talk to the animals in the movie "Dr. Dolittle." And she sang the parts of barnyard animals in "Mary Poppins."

May you now have peace and are now singing for the Lord. I have enjoyed your talent all of my life. I am now 70 and did not know you accomplished all what you did. You had a God given talent and thanks to Walt Disney. You and Walt Disney are now with the Lord in Heaven. A fan for many years of all of the voice overs you did. Sandra Slater, Louisville Ky

The classic Mickey Mouse Club and other Disney classics are my favorite so I am truly sorry to hear about the death of Ginny Tyler. I give my sympathies to the family. May God give them the strength to endure for he is near to those broken at heart and those crushed in the spirit he saves.

When I came to Los Angeles from Britain in 1979 I found an apartment in the building Ginny lived in and managed. It was thanks to her that I found my first home in LA. I still live just a mile away from that building. As an actor with no experience in Hollywood I found Ginny's generous help and advice invaluable. She was always there for me to ask questions. She was constantly at work writing and composing. I never saw her slow down. How she loved her shows at the Masquers Club. It was delightful to see her there.
I know all of us will miss her very much but also be grateful to have known her.
