I met James McArthur in New Orleans in the late 80s. He was in town and I met him through a business associate. He wanted a companion for dinner and we had a very enjoyable evening. He was a consummate gentleman and I feel honored to have met him. I told him I was a fan of his since Swiss family Robinson and he talked about that movie and how much he enjoyed it. He was a lovely man, and I hope he rests in peace.

I'm sitting in my living room watching Spencer's Mountain and was jolted by the appearance of James MacArthur. I haven't seen him or heard anything about him in a long time so I googled him and that's when I found out that he has passed from this life. I always thought he was so handsome and he had the nicest smile. I grew up in the 50's and 60's so I kind of grew up with him. Such a loss. My deepest condolences to the family and friends of this wonderful man and actor. Bless each and everyone of you.

R.I.P James Mac Arthur.
I watched you in 5-0 every Thursday from Germany in the late 60s to 1978, and it was always a pleasure.
These days (2022/23), I'm starting all over, miss the good old times. My phrase today is: "Book them, Danno"!
All your fans remember you very well. Thank you .

James MacArthur will always be the one and only Danno and watching the reruns was one of the main reasons, I returned to college and received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice in 2010.
They can remake Hawaii 5-0, but the chemistry of the original cast will live on.
My heart goes out to his family, the loss of your talents and your love for family and friends on and off scene will be missed.

To The Family of James MacArthur:
I thoroughly enjoyed watching Mr. MacArthur on Hiwaii Five-O when growing up. What an extremely talented actor he was. Although the pain will seem unbearable at times, please find comfort that there is a day coming when this earth will be filled with happy people and peace will be everywhere and Mr. MacArthur will be there to enjoy it (Psalms 37:10,11,29). My sincere condolences to you.

How I wish I could have met Mr. MacArthur! He was a wonderful man and actor. His performances were honest, expressive and powerful. Few persons in the entertainment industry have shown or may ever show the graciousness, intelligence, dignity and class he has. I pray that his family may be comforted by the love and truth embodied in his life, and reminded that this parting is not forever. Love and blessings to him and to his family. And just think of the joyful reunion going in heaven!

From the time I first saw him in "Swiss Family Robinson," I had a huge crush on this handsome, intelligent, gentle man. When he won over Hayley Mills in "The Truth About Spring," he'd already won me over, and I simply wanted to be her. Eleven seasons as Danno was mere icing on the cake; I loved Jack Lord (remember "Stoney Burke?"), but I adored James MacArthur. I had looked forward to seeing him again on the new "H50," but it wasn't meant to be. Sleep well, Sweet Prince.

Since I am only 8 days older than James, I feel that he died much too young.
I was an abid fan of 'Hawaii Five-O' and am enjoying the new version, but since Jack Lord and James Macaarthur were two of my all time favorite actors, I am really missing them. The current actors, though good will never measure up to our old faves!!
James was still very handsome; as is proven by the photo accompanying his obit.
I wish to send prayers and sympathy to his family.
The entire country has lost another treasured actor.

Hawaii Five-0 was my favorite show and I also lived in Hawaii in 1973 and saw them filming in downtown Honolulu. James and Jack Lord were very kind and let me take a picture of them with my 12 year old nephew Victor that was visiting from Oklahoma, when they were on a break. It just made our day!
My prayers are with his family and what a talented actor he was. We will always remember, "Book em Danno". I am thrilled we have a new Hawaii Five-0 now to watch but the new actors can never compare to the original ones. But I do like the new show and the scenery is spectacular.
