IT HAS BEEN AN HONOR TO KNOW SUCH A GRACIOUS HOST AND DELIGHTFUL HUMAN BEING. HE IS TRULY AN EXAMPLE FOR US ALL TO FOLLOW. BILL WORKED HARD, GAVE MUCH AND LIVED WELL. "GOOD TO THE LAST DROP" APPLIES TO HIS LIFE. HE HONORED LIFE AND DID NOT WASTE A DROP OF IT. HIS BACKGAMMON WAS PRETTY GOOD ALSO. HE WAS LOYAL TO HIS FRIENDS AND WORKERS AND BROUGHT JOY TO THE WORLD. A PLEASURE TO KNOW. A CELEBRATION OF A LIFE GIVEN BY GOD AND FULLY APPRECIATED BY SO MANY. BLESSING'S PATRICIA

Dear Bill,
It's hard to believe that just two weeks ago we were at your Manhattan residence Christmas party. That special and happy ritual we Delts always looked forward to each year. This year was especially wonderful since it was close to Christmas and you seemed especially happy to see us all. You had that certain serenity that I have come to recognize with the final journey and I have recently experienced with the passing of my own mother. I believe it was a good bye.
But as our great Delta Phi song says, let us not speak of such sadness and remember all the wonderful times we shared, especially those pre-Ascot parties in London.
Bill you have been a great American, a leader, visionary, friend and Bon Vivant. I am sure God will put you in charge of hosting elegant social events. It has been a great pleasure knowing you.
With much happiness and sadness,
Joseph and Marcia Scognamiglio

Mr. Carey was truly an outstanding gentleman; and his loyalty to Baltimore area institutions deserves the greatest respect. May his family take comfort in the knowledge that he was appreciated by those touched by his generosity and kindness.

Wm Polk Carey, whom I loved to call by his entire name, was introduced to me in San Francisco, in the 60's, by my late ex-husband, John Hoffmann.
He was a gentleman, a good friend and, obviously, a thoughtful benefactor. We were lucky to have known him.
