Chris-
I didn't know your dad well but the few times I had met him in his home, he was welcoming and friendly. The articles I have read about him, tell a great story of a wonderful man. My prayers are with you and your family.

Malachi and I roomed next to each other freshman year at the University of Notre Dame. I remember those days fondly. Malachi always was the smartest person in the room – and he knew it!

We lost touch after college, but did have the opportunity to reconnect at small group reunion meetings of our ND gang in 2007 and 2009. Those were fun times. Malachi had grown and matured but had not really changed. That was wonderful to see!

My deepest sympathy for the family’s loss.

Malachi and I were freshman year roommates at Notre Dame. He was a very smart and sharp-witted kid with a fiery temper, and he had a big influence on me at that moment in time.

Just last summer Malachi and I met up with a few other ND friends (Ed Hiss, Clint Hirst, and Jim Waggenbach) out in Colorado. On our last night there, Malachi and I walked the street at night, slowly because of his health, and talked about our lives and passions.

I remember that moment fondly, and I will miss him.

Please let me know if there is a place where I can make a donation in Malachi's name.

My thoughts and prayers go with him, and with you. I can be reached at [email protected]
