Anthony "Tony" Buncum Jr.
Anthony "Tony" Buncum Jr., 35, of Middleton, died Sunday, October 2, 2011, at his home. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28th at a Portland VFW, 7118 SE Fern, Portland, OR 97206. All are welcome to come. Tony was born August 12, 1976, in Fort Ord, California, to Anthony Buncum and Carol Akins . At the age of 13, he moved with his mom to the Portland area where he graduated from high school. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the town of Corbet, Oregon, during his last year of high school. Tony joined the US Navy and served his country with pride for 13 years. He was a highly decorated soldier, fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, defending our country from terrorists. Tony married Amanda Gordon from Washington, who gave birth to his daughter, Tyra Buncum. Tony later married Camilla Ann Thompson in 2006 in Nevada. After he was discharged from service they moved back to Portland and Tony became a student at Portland Community College, where he studied criminal justice. He transferred to BSU to continue his studies with the hope of becoming a police officer.
Tony is survived by his wife, Cami Buncum, of Middleton; his daughter, Tyra Buncum of Bremerton, WA; his mother, Carol Akins of Portland, OR; his dad, Anthony Buncum of St. Johns Island, SC; his brother, Michael Scott of CA; along with several more relatives.
