Roy Downing Obituary
Before retiring, he was the co-owner of Garage-A-Rama in Lodi. He served in the Air Force in WWII where he was a decorated war hero and prisoner of war. He was the founder and chairman of the American Reformed Party. Roy and his wife, Louise, were instrumental in transforming the Lodi Boys Club into the Lodi Boys & Girls Club in the late 1960s.
He was the husband of Louise; father of Bettyjean Downing-Kling; grandfather of Thomas Richardson, Louisa and the late Denise and Michael Richardson; great-grandfather of four; brother of the late Albert and Tooty Freeman; and uncle of four.
Funeral was Feb. 5 with interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook. Arrangements by Santangelo Funeral Home, Lodi.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lodi American Legion Post 136 Building Fund.
