I took the kids for a scooter ride/walk in the giant cemetery at the end of our road on this Veteran's Day 2014. The kids brought their small American flags with them to place near a veteran's grave to honor a soldier today. They chose to honor Pfc Michael DeMarsico who gave his life for his country and they placed their flags at his grave. Thank you, Pfc DeMarsico, for your sacrifice.

Michael, I never got to meet you, my son was also in C Co. I know your mom on Facebook, you are so very much missed, I see it in her words every day. Tomorrow is the one year anniversary, and we are praying for all those who knew and loved you.
You will always be remembered in our home and honored. We set an extra place setting in our home for holidays. A card sits on the plate with your name on it asking everyone to remember the cost of freedom. It is a small thing, but it is from our heart.
Demarsico family, God bless and keep you always.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also to let the Demarsico Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

The soldier, above all other men, is required to perform the highest act of religious teaching - "sacrifice." In battle and in the face of danger and death he discloses those devine attributes which his Maker gave when He created man in his pwn image. No physical courage and no brute instincts can take the place of devine
annunciation and spiritual uplift which will alone sustain him. However horrible the incidents of war may be, the soldier who is called upon to offer and to give his life for his country, truly, is the noblest development of mankind. God Bless You! Michael Robert DeMarsico II.

Our deepest and most profound sympathy to both the family & friends of this young hero.

Thank you Michael for serving our country. I am saddened by your passing & pray for strength for your family during this nightmare..To lose a son so young in age I couldn't bare. May god watch over all of you..

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

I have been putting my thoughts together for few days just so I can now put them in writing. It is with a heavy heart that I attempt write these words. PFC Michael the day you deployed to heaven I had a phone conversation with your mom earlier that day. We had no idea that would be our last conversation of sharing our joy about having a son in the military. We laughed and talked about you and my oldest son. You both traveled the same road of Infantry all the way to Fort Lewis and the same Brigade. Though your deployments were different years and different places, you shared that common bond. We also talked about my youngest son and how you all are only 6 weeks apart and you both joined the military. It was a honor to share my deployment experiences with your Mom. Your mom joined our FB support group "Parents of Deployed Servicemembers" better known as PODS. Your mom is a true inspiration to everyone in the group. Now I know were you received your trait of caring from. You have a lovely family and I pray that while you are deployed to heaven that you keep a watch on all your love ones. You will live on forever in the hearts and minds of many people. RIP Soldier/Son.

I never had the honor of meeting Michael personally, or his family, but I am glad to have connected with his Mom via our PODS group. There were many a chat sessions we had about our boys, our families, the deployment (and its toll on those of us at home). Our families were alike in that we had siblings at home roughly the same ages experiencing the same stresses - kindred so to speak. Its odd how we Army families can bond, not knowing each other prior or even in some cases having met. Its because no one on the outside can possibly imagine. It is through the strength and comraderie of the Army family that we carry on. That being said, I wish my deepest sympathy to the DeMarsico family. No one should ever lose a child, and my heart breaks for you. Thank you Michael for your service. I know your spirit will live on in the hearts of many! Hooah!

My heart has been aching, ever since I heard the news in our PODS group. My son was with Michael, at Ft. Benning, and at Ft. Lewis, and is now still serving in Afghanistan. I didn't know Michael personally, but I feel like a part my heart was ripped out with this sad sad news. I can't even begin to imagine the pain you are going through, but I do pray, every day, for God to give you peace and comfort from this tragic loss. He was a Hero and is loved and will be remembered by so many people across this entire Nation. Thank you so much for your sacrifice, it is one that can never be repaid. We all will be forever eternally grateful for his great sacrifice and will never forget him. Much Love to you and your family. God's blessings to you, also.
